Faith comes from hearing the Message, and the Message is heard through the Word of Christ. (Romans 10:17)
Ron Bishop transferred the leadership of SCORE to new Executive Director John Zeller March 10th, 2011 in Tampa, FL. Although Ron has stepped down from his position as Director, he has not retired from SCORE International and he will continue to speak to all about Jesus Christ.
SCORE International is excited to present a new logo; and it was unveiled at the John Zeller’s acceptance banquet in Tampa. "We are excited about the new look," said John. "We chose this logo because it represents our motto that you’ve got to go, and it encompasses allthe ministries of SCORE International."
In 1985, Ron Bishop (former Head Basketball for Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga) took a basketball team to Mexico on an unusual ministry and sports competition trip. It had a national impact. Since then, thousands of athletes have traveled with SCOREInternational to 15 countries, and the Gospel has been spread to thousands. The sports of baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball offer players, coaches and lovers of the games the opportunity for short term mission trips to the Caribbean and central America.
"Part of the Game"
Coaches Keith Madison, John Zeller (Executive Vice President-SCORE International) and Don Gordon develop their strategy between innings. This past summer American players traveled to the Dominican Republic to compete against the talented Dominican players. Before each game starts, the American teams present the Dominican teams with gifts of new and slightly used baseball equipment and uniforms. After the competition, the Gospel is shared with all including the fans present. A translator is used; and many times players as well as coaches share their personal experiences with those listening. At the end of the short-term mission trip, the Americans return home with hearts transformed and a new outlook on their lives in the United States.
